A customer developed a low-fat sugar wafer product that used a cream product so soft and sticky that conventional book cutting techniques did not work. Wafer books buckled and cracked, cut pieces stuck together and cutter jams were frequent. Graybill Machines custom designed and built them a solution. Our robust cutter resolved the issues for the customer and increased production output.
Graybill designed and built a new sugar wafer book cutter with a revised book cutting process, so that there was less cutting pressure, more precise guiding and separation of cut edges, and powered separation of cut ends. Powered spreading tables integrated with the machine spreads the cut fingers onto wide, high-speed enrobing lines.
