A confectionary customer’s sugar wafer product had evolved over time into a different configuration than that for which the production line was originally designed. The line had 2 wafer ovens; if they ran one oven, the line could not reach maximum output, but with both ovens running the maximum capacity of the line was exceeded.
Graybill and customer determined that an accumulator would allow running two ovens until the accumulator was filled, then running on one oven while gradually emptying the accumulator to supplement capacity. Graybill fit a vertical stack accumulator with tilt gate and pattern building conveyors into the customer’s existing line layout.
